A Registered Architect in practice Part 3 qualified since 2003 (RIAI 2003 & ARB registered since 2008) and experienced Architectural Educator, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, based in London, Aoife combines academia with practice.
adA is committed to finding sensitive architectural solutions that resonate with place, patiently repair, renew and augment existing settings and heritage structures and bring fresh thinking to a range of spatial questions. Current projects include an adaptive reuse project for a musician and filmmaker and family at a former historic Methodist Church in the Wicklow Mountains National Park and a natural materials based Safer Motherhood Unit in rural Malawi, extending and reimagining existing buildings and setting for NGO African Vision, with new accommodation, an outdoor kitchen and permaculture garden.
Aoife worked with a range of renowned design-led practices on cultural, educational and public buildings, landscapes and public realm projects in London & Dublin, including Adams & Sutherland, Hassett Ducatez and collaborated with DK-CM, JMA and as half of the Imaginary Rock, prior to establishing adA. As graduate Architect at OPW Dublin, her work was focussed on cultural heritage sites such as the National Library of Ireland and St Joseph’s Cottage visitor centre, Wicklow Mountains National Park.
Course Director for the M.Arch Architecture program at Kingston School of Art since 2022, Aoife co-leads Unit 3 of the Masters, and has taught and guest lectured nationally and internationally, including in KADK Copenhagen and ZHAW Zurich. Aoife studied at the Dublin School of Architecture/ TCD and UP6 Paris, La Villette, completing Part 3 at UCD Dublin, 2003.
